"Cuando hace unos meses escuchaba por primera vez "The Game", tema de adelanto de "Tomocyclus", álbum de debut de Sparklands (banda holandesa que busca hacerse un hueco en el panorama AOR), me sorprendió gratamente, y una vez escuchado el disco al completo podemos afirmar que se trata de uno de los debuts más interesantes del año en lo que a AOR se refiere. y por ello no hemos dudado en ponernos en contacto con Thomas Riekerk, lider de Sparklands. A continuación puedes leer lo ha contado:
Jesús Del Río: Hola Thomas, ¿nos puedes contar tus orígenes en la música y más concretamente en el mundo del AOR?
Thomas Riekerk: Hola... empecé haciendo música cuando era un chaval tocando con mi hermano y mis vecinos en el ático. Escuchando toda clase de grupos de Pop/Rock e intentando copiarles, pasándolo bien descubriendo este mundo que es la música. Se convirtió en algo más serio cuando le pregunté a un amigo mío para que se uniera a la banda. Pronto empezamos a grabar un disco y a tocar muchos conciertos en diferentes países y escenarios.
Años después tuve la idea de empezar mi propia banda de Rock, Beam, en la que estaba también mi hermano. Firmamos con el sello más grande de Holanda y sonamos mucho en las radios nacionales como 3FM en Radio538. También aparecimos en la MTV de Holanda. Años más tarde la banda se separó debido a dificultades varias. Después de eso estuve activo en diferentes bandas como músico de sesión pero no con mi propia banda.
Muchos años y proyectos después ha llegado mi hora de ser el frontman de mi propia banda y contar mi propia historia. Mi sueño era hacer un álbum de AOR/Melodic Rock porque es la música con la que he crecido y siempre he tenido en mente durante todos estos años.
¿Cómo surge Sparklands?
- La idea se me ocurrió junto con mi hermano Robert cuando nos reunimos con unos amigos comunes productores y músicos como Simon Gitsels (Van Velzen), Minco Eggersman (The Spirit That Guides Us) y Martijn Groeneveld (productor de Blaudzun) y el sueño se hizo realidad. Además de esto, Robert-Jan van Noort de Pankra (famoso estudio de diseño danés) se involucró mucho y se ofreció a diseñar el artwork. El proyecto se llamó Sparklands.
¿Es un grupo o es tu proyecto personal?
- Es un proyecto/banda personal. Es un proyecto en solitario pero que no podría haberlo hecho sin los chicos, así que todo esto es Sparklands. Los directos los hago con otro par de chicos (incluido mi hermano) que no se involucró en hacer el álbum pero le que le gustaba mucho el proyecto. Es genial que se hayan comprometido con su tiempo y esfuerzo a llevar a Sparklands al directo.
La banda de estudio y la banda de directo funcionan como un equipo y cada uno sabe cuál es su rol en Sparklands.
¿Por qué te decantas por el AOR en una época en que el estilo no pasa por su mejor momento?
- Como he dicho anteriormente... mi sueño era hacer un disco de AOR/Melodic Rock porque es la música con la que he crecido y siempre he tenido en mente durante todos estos años. No nos importa que el AOR/Melodic Rock tuviera su mejor momento hace años. Consideramos que es un privilegio hacer un álbum en cualquier momento y seguimos creyendo que todavía tiene calidad para muchos fans del Rock.
¿Cómo ha sido el proceso desde que empezaste la composición hasta ver el disco en las tiendas?
- Las canciones de “Tomocyclus” están escritas de una forma muy natural, las letras tratan de las cosas que me han pasado en los últimos años. Las letras han sido escritas por Robert Riekerk, Minco Eggersman, Martijn Groeneveld y yo. A veces alguien escribía una canción en casa, en otras ocasiones alguien venía con la idea y trabajamos juntos en el estudio. Había que arreglar cada canción, algunas veces en el acto, otras en nuestro estudio de casa. Tenemos suerte, Martijin (Estudios Mailmen) tiene un gran estudio donde grabamos las baterías y la mayoría de los teclados, guitarras y voces. Los arreglos son lo que más me gusta hacer de todo el proceso, con esos sonidos vintage (Reverberadores Lexicon y Sintetizadores DX7, por nombrar unos pocos) que eran conocidos en los 80-90. Había mucha libertad para que cada músico aportara sus ideas. No había presión por tener una fecha límite para terminar el álbum. Así que fue muy relajante trabajar de esta manera.
Empezamos a crear las canciones con la esperanza de encontrar a alguien que distribuyera nuestro álbum en las tiendas. Encontramos la cooperación con Avenue Of Allies. Hicieron posible que nuestros discos estuvieran en las tiendas. Lo que era nuestra meta y nuestro sueño con este álbum. Estamos ilusionados con el proceso hasta ahora...
¿Cuáles son tus principales influencias como músico a la hora de componer?
- Las bandas que nos inspiran son bandas como Giant, Foreigner, Toto, King’s X, Work Of Art, Lava, Whiteheart, Bad English, Journey, Richard Marx y muchas más. Buenas canciones con agradables arreglos y melodías de Rock.
¿Estás contento con el resultado final? ¿Hay algo a día de hoy que cambiarías?
- Estamos muy satisfechos con el resultado final de “Tomocyclus”... hemos dado lo mejor de nosotros y te debería gustar :-)
¿Qué significa “Tomocyclus”?
- “Tomocyclus” es el nombre del barco donde trabajaba mi padre en sus primeros años. Era un petrolero internacional con el que navegó por todo el mundo. También es una metáfora de nuestro viaje musical... en particular en la música AOR/Melodic Rock. Mi padre era una gran inspiración. Escuchaba mucho AOR/Melodic Rock y nos dio a mi hermano y a mí la oportunidad para hacer música. Desafortunadamente murió hace tres años. Así que es una forma de honrarle y recordarle...
¿Qué esperas conseguir con este disco? ¿Qué crees que tiene que aportar Sparklands al mundo del AOR?
- Creo que Sparklands es una banda moderna que muestra respeto por las bandas de los 80 que nos han precedido. No tratamos de sonar como ninguna banda moderna. Al contrario, hemos contado con el equipo que se usaba en los 80 y que ahora no se escucha muy a menudo. ¡Un álbum que se podría haber hecho en aquellos tiempos! Un viaje de nuestros corazones por la música.

- Pffff ¿una favorita?? jajaja... Ok, creo que “The Game”, “Afterlife” y “Shattered Dream”, canciones que cuentan la historia de Sparklands... todas son diferentes pero siguen siendo AOR... pero creo que cada uno puede tener sus favoritas porque la música en general es muy personal.
¿Tendrá continuación “Tomocyclus”?
- Tenemos planes de hacer un segundo álbum. No puedo decir que sea una segunda parte pero daremos lo mejor de nosotros para que sea una buena continuación :-)
¿Lo has presentado ya en directo? ¿Cuál ha sido la reacción de la gente?
- Hemos tocado nuestras canciones y la gente ha reaccionado positivamente con el directo de Sparklands... quisimos tocar lo más posible... pero como banda principiante tenemos que trabajar en nuestra reputación. Toda entrevista y concierto puede contribuir al proceso. Así que estamos muy contentos cuando tenemos la oportunidad de una entrevista como ésta.
¿Cómo es la escena AOR en tu país?
- En Holanda hay una escena pero no tan grande como en Suecia, Alemania o el Reino Unido... pero sigue habiendo viejas bandas... que se reúnen y hacen discos nuevos. Bandas que eran grandes aquí... y no en otros países... así que es hora de revivir de nuevo a la escena.
¿Hay alguna banda que debiéramos conocer?
- Creo que una buena banda es la de Adrian Vandenberg... guitarrista de Whitesnake... Se llama MOONKINGS... ¡espero mucho de estos tíos!
¿Cuáles son tus bandas favoritas?
- Tengo muchas favoritas, pero una en particular es Giant... tiene una buena combinación de melodías, guitarras, baterías, sintetizadores y armonías vocales... buenas canciones, baladas y temas Rockeros.
No lo sé, pero si no conoces los discos “Freedom” y “Tales Of Wonder” de Whiteheart, deberías escucharlos. Dann Huff de Giant fue uno de los miembros fundadores de Whiteheart en sus comienzos.
¿Sigues la escena AOR actual? ¿Qué bandas nuevas destacarías?
- Debido a mi paso por el AOR de los últimos años, sigo la escena AOR cada vez más. ¿Qué puedo recomendar? Uhh creo que Work Of Art… los nuevos Moonkings y Lava son buenas bandas para escuchar.
¿Qué otras aficiones tienes al margen de la música?
- Me gusta mucho montar en bici… y preparar una buena cena... también soy un loco del futbol, donde vosotros en España tenéis a los mejores jugadores de futbol del mundo. :-)
¿Qué opinas de esos proyectos que utilizan a un cantante con prestigio el cual sólo pone su voz y no aporta nada en las composiciones? ¿Crees que estos proyectos ayudan o hacen daño al AOR?
- Bueno, no creo que haga daño al AOR, pero puedes preguntarte si es lo suficientemente creativo... porque creo que hay muchos buenos cantantes que no se han descubierto... por eso se llaman proyectos... todo trata sobre que haya buenas canciones y se lo pasen bien haciendo esos proyectos... así que si funciona para ellos y me gusta lo que escucho... para mí no es ningún problema siempre y cuando haya sitio para las nuevas bandas...
¿En cuál de tus discos favoritos te hubiera gustado participar?
- Jajajaja, ser parte de Toto en “The Seventh One” y de Giant en “Time To Burn”.
¿Conoces alguna banda melódica española?
- No conozco ninguna personalmente, pero hemos firmado con la agencia de contratación española Izkar Producciones... así que debe de haber buenas bandas melódicas españolas.

Jesús Del Río: Hello Thomas, could you tell us how you did begin in the music world and to be more precise in the AOR music?
Thomas Riekerk: Hi…..I started making music when I was a youngster. PLaying music with my brother and nephews in the attic. Listening to all kinds of pop/rock bands trying to copy them and having fun in discovering the ways of the world called music. It became more serious when I was asked to join the band of a friend of mine. Soon we started to record a record and play many shows in different countries and different settings.
Years later came the day I started to have my own rock band Beam, which also involved my brother. We signed at a major label in Holland and received a lot of exposure on national radio stations like 3FM en Radio538. We also had exposure on MTV Holland. After a few years the band fell apart due to management and band difficulties. After that I was still active in different bands as a session musician but not with a band of my own.
Many years and projects later the time had come for me to become the front man of my own band and start telling my own story. My dream was to make an AOR/melodic rock album because it’s the music I grew up with and kept coming back like memories through the years.
How comes up/ arises Sparklands?
- I dropped the idea and together with brother Robert we gathered some befriended producers and musicians like Simon Gitsels (Van Velzen), Minco Eggersman (the spirit that guides us) and Martijn Groeneveld (producer of Blaudzun) to make his dream come true. On top of that, Robert-Jan van Noort of Pankra (famous Dutch design studio) was really into it and offered to design the artwork. The project was called Sparklands.
Is it a band or a personal project?
- It is a personal project/band. This is indeed my solo-project but i could not have done this without the guys, so in all this is Sparklands. The live gigs i do with a couple of other guys (including my brother) that where not involved in making the album but really like the project. It's great they wanted to commit their time and efforts to bringing Sparklands live!
The studio band and the live band all work together as one team and each ones knows it role in Sparklands..
Why have you chosen the AOR music, when it is not in its best moment?
- As I mentioned before.. My dream was to make an AOR/melodic rock album because it’s the music I grew up with and kept coming back like memories through the years. We don't care that AOR/Melodic rock has had its peak years ago. We consider it a privilege making an album like this any time and still we believe it has the quality to many Rock-fans still.
How has it been the process since you started the composition till you saw the album in the shops?
- The songs on Tomocyclus are written in a very natural way, lyrically they deal with the stuff i've been through over the years. The songs were written by Robert Riekerk, Minco Eggersman, Martijn Groeneveld and myself. Sometimes someone wrote a song at home, sometimes someone just came up with an idea that we worked on together in the studio. Still we had to arrange every song, sometimes right on the spot, sometimes at home in our own studio’s. We are lucky Martijn (Mailmen Studio’s) got’s his own big studio that’s where the big drums and most of the keys, guitarts and vocals were recorded. The arranging is what I loved about the process, getting those vintage sounds (Lexicon reverbs and DX7-synths to name a few) that the 80s and 90s are known for. There was much space/freedom for every musician to fill in an idea. There was no pressure of having a deadline finishing the album. So it was very relaxed to work this way.
We started to create the songs and hopefully there was someone who could distribute their skills in having our album in the shops. We found the cooperation with Avenue of Allies. They made it possible to have our albums in the shops. Which was our goal and dream with this album. We’re all exited about the process 'till now..
Which are your main influences when you are composing?
- Bands that inspired us are bands like eg Giant, Foreigner, Toto, Kings’X, Work of Art, Lava, Whiteheart, Bad English, Journey, Richard Marx and a lot more...It’s all about good songs with nice rock arrangements and melodies…
Are you satisfied with the final result? Would you change something?
- We’re very satisfied with the results we call Tomocyclus..we gave our best and so should you :-)
What does "Tomocyclus" means?
- Tomocyclus is the name of boat on which my father worked on in his early years. It was an international tanker which he sailed with all over the world. It also is a metaphor of our musical journey ..of AOR/Melodic Rock music in particular. You know my father was a great inspirator. He listened to AOR/Melodic Rock a lot and gave me and my brother the opportunities to make music.. Unfortunately he passed a way three years ago. So it’s also a way to honor and remember him..
What do you want to get with this album? What do you think that Sparklands gives to the AOR world?
- I think Sparklands is modern band that shows respect to the 80s bands that have gone before. Soundwise we don't try to sound like any modern band. Quite the opposite as we got all the gear they got in the 80s and created something you don't hear that often. An album that could have been made back in the days.! A real journey of hearts put into the music.

- Pfff having a favourite??..hahaha…Ok...I think ‚The Game, Afterlife and Shattered Dreams‘ are typically songs that tells the story of Sparklands….they’re all different but there still what AOR is all about….but I think each listener can have their favourites..because music in general is very personal.
Will it be a second part of "Tomocyclus"?
- We have plans of making a second album..I can’t say it is the second part..but we will give our best to making a good follow up album :-).
Have you introduce the album to the audience with live shows? Which has been the reaction of the people?
- We played our songs and people reacted positive on Sparklands live….we want to play as much as possible..but as a beginning band we have to work on our reputation. Every interview and live show can contribute to that proces. So we’re very happy when we have the possibility like this interview..!
How is it the AOR scene on your country?
- In Holland there’s a scene but I think not that big as in Sweden, Germany and the UK..but there are still a lot of old bands..coming together again and making new albums. Bands that were big here..are mostly not big in other countries.. So it’s time to bring the scene back to life!
Is it any band that we should know?
- I think a good new band is the band of Adrian Vandenberg..guitarplayer of Whitesnake…It’s called MOONKINGS..I’m expecting a lot from those guys!
Which are your favorite bands?
- I have a lot of favourites..but one..for me in particular is Giant..it’s good / fine combination of melodies, guitars, drums, synths and harmony vocals..good songs, power ballads and rock tunes..
I don’t know..but when you’re not acquainted with Whiteheart’s albums Freedom and Tales of Wonder..you should listen to those records.. Dann Huff from Giant was also involved and co-founder of Whiteheart in his early days.
Do you follow the actual AOR scene? Which new bands would you recommend us?
- Due to AOR journey the last few years I follow the AOR scene more and more…What i can recommend? Uhh I think Work of Art…the new Moonkings and Lava are fine bands to listen to.
Which other hobbies do you have apart from the music?
- I like to cycle a lot……and cook a fine dinner..I’m also a soccer fool…which you guys in Spain have some of the best players for in the world! :-)
What do you think about those projects that they just choose a famous singer and he just puts his voice, nothing else? Do you think that this kind of project helps or damage the AOR?
- Well, I don’t think that it's damaging to AOR..but you can ask yourself if it’s creative enough..because I think there are a lot of good singers not yet discovered..otherwise they’re called projects..and it’s all about good songs and the fun they having in making those projects..so if it’s working for them and I like what I hear..to me it’s no problem as long as there is room for new bands…
From your favorite albums, in which ones you would have liked to participate?
- Hahahaaa being part of Toto on the Seventh One and Giant..Time to Burn!
Do you know any Spanish melodic band?
- I don’t know them personally but we’re signed at a Spanish booker: Izkar Producciones….so there must be a good spanish melodic band.

- En Holanda hay una escena pero no tan grande como en Suecia, Alemania o el Reino Unido... pero sigue habiendo viejas bandas... que se reúnen y hacen discos nuevos. Bandas que eran grandes aquí... y no en otros países... así que es hora de revivir de nuevo a la escena.
¿Hay alguna banda que debiéramos conocer?
- Creo que una buena banda es la de Adrian Vandenberg... guitarrista de Whitesnake... Se llama MOONKINGS... ¡espero mucho de estos tíos!
¿Cuáles son tus bandas favoritas?
- Tengo muchas favoritas, pero una en particular es Giant... tiene una buena combinación de melodías, guitarras, baterías, sintetizadores y armonías vocales... buenas canciones, baladas y temas Rockeros.
No lo sé, pero si no conoces los discos “Freedom” y “Tales Of Wonder” de Whiteheart, deberías escucharlos. Dann Huff de Giant fue uno de los miembros fundadores de Whiteheart en sus comienzos.
¿Sigues la escena AOR actual? ¿Qué bandas nuevas destacarías?
- Debido a mi paso por el AOR de los últimos años, sigo la escena AOR cada vez más. ¿Qué puedo recomendar? Uhh creo que Work Of Art… los nuevos Moonkings y Lava son buenas bandas para escuchar.
¿Qué otras aficiones tienes al margen de la música?
- Me gusta mucho montar en bici… y preparar una buena cena... también soy un loco del futbol, donde vosotros en España tenéis a los mejores jugadores de futbol del mundo. :-)
¿Qué opinas de esos proyectos que utilizan a un cantante con prestigio el cual sólo pone su voz y no aporta nada en las composiciones? ¿Crees que estos proyectos ayudan o hacen daño al AOR?
- Bueno, no creo que haga daño al AOR, pero puedes preguntarte si es lo suficientemente creativo... porque creo que hay muchos buenos cantantes que no se han descubierto... por eso se llaman proyectos... todo trata sobre que haya buenas canciones y se lo pasen bien haciendo esos proyectos... así que si funciona para ellos y me gusta lo que escucho... para mí no es ningún problema siempre y cuando haya sitio para las nuevas bandas...
¿En cuál de tus discos favoritos te hubiera gustado participar?
- Jajajaja, ser parte de Toto en “The Seventh One” y de Giant en “Time To Burn”.
¿Conoces alguna banda melódica española?
- No conozco ninguna personalmente, pero hemos firmado con la agencia de contratación española Izkar Producciones... así que debe de haber buenas bandas melódicas españolas.

Jesús Del Río: Hello Thomas, could you tell us how you did begin in the music world and to be more precise in the AOR music?
Thomas Riekerk: Hi…..I started making music when I was a youngster. PLaying music with my brother and nephews in the attic. Listening to all kinds of pop/rock bands trying to copy them and having fun in discovering the ways of the world called music. It became more serious when I was asked to join the band of a friend of mine. Soon we started to record a record and play many shows in different countries and different settings.
Years later came the day I started to have my own rock band Beam, which also involved my brother. We signed at a major label in Holland and received a lot of exposure on national radio stations like 3FM en Radio538. We also had exposure on MTV Holland. After a few years the band fell apart due to management and band difficulties. After that I was still active in different bands as a session musician but not with a band of my own.
Many years and projects later the time had come for me to become the front man of my own band and start telling my own story. My dream was to make an AOR/melodic rock album because it’s the music I grew up with and kept coming back like memories through the years.
How comes up/ arises Sparklands?
- I dropped the idea and together with brother Robert we gathered some befriended producers and musicians like Simon Gitsels (Van Velzen), Minco Eggersman (the spirit that guides us) and Martijn Groeneveld (producer of Blaudzun) to make his dream come true. On top of that, Robert-Jan van Noort of Pankra (famous Dutch design studio) was really into it and offered to design the artwork. The project was called Sparklands.
Is it a band or a personal project?
- It is a personal project/band. This is indeed my solo-project but i could not have done this without the guys, so in all this is Sparklands. The live gigs i do with a couple of other guys (including my brother) that where not involved in making the album but really like the project. It's great they wanted to commit their time and efforts to bringing Sparklands live!
The studio band and the live band all work together as one team and each ones knows it role in Sparklands..
Why have you chosen the AOR music, when it is not in its best moment?
- As I mentioned before.. My dream was to make an AOR/melodic rock album because it’s the music I grew up with and kept coming back like memories through the years. We don't care that AOR/Melodic rock has had its peak years ago. We consider it a privilege making an album like this any time and still we believe it has the quality to many Rock-fans still.
How has it been the process since you started the composition till you saw the album in the shops?
- The songs on Tomocyclus are written in a very natural way, lyrically they deal with the stuff i've been through over the years. The songs were written by Robert Riekerk, Minco Eggersman, Martijn Groeneveld and myself. Sometimes someone wrote a song at home, sometimes someone just came up with an idea that we worked on together in the studio. Still we had to arrange every song, sometimes right on the spot, sometimes at home in our own studio’s. We are lucky Martijn (Mailmen Studio’s) got’s his own big studio that’s where the big drums and most of the keys, guitarts and vocals were recorded. The arranging is what I loved about the process, getting those vintage sounds (Lexicon reverbs and DX7-synths to name a few) that the 80s and 90s are known for. There was much space/freedom for every musician to fill in an idea. There was no pressure of having a deadline finishing the album. So it was very relaxed to work this way.
We started to create the songs and hopefully there was someone who could distribute their skills in having our album in the shops. We found the cooperation with Avenue of Allies. They made it possible to have our albums in the shops. Which was our goal and dream with this album. We’re all exited about the process 'till now..
Which are your main influences when you are composing?
- Bands that inspired us are bands like eg Giant, Foreigner, Toto, Kings’X, Work of Art, Lava, Whiteheart, Bad English, Journey, Richard Marx and a lot more...It’s all about good songs with nice rock arrangements and melodies…
Are you satisfied with the final result? Would you change something?
- We’re very satisfied with the results we call Tomocyclus..we gave our best and so should you :-)
What does "Tomocyclus" means?
- Tomocyclus is the name of boat on which my father worked on in his early years. It was an international tanker which he sailed with all over the world. It also is a metaphor of our musical journey ..of AOR/Melodic Rock music in particular. You know my father was a great inspirator. He listened to AOR/Melodic Rock a lot and gave me and my brother the opportunities to make music.. Unfortunately he passed a way three years ago. So it’s also a way to honor and remember him..
What do you want to get with this album? What do you think that Sparklands gives to the AOR world?
- I think Sparklands is modern band that shows respect to the 80s bands that have gone before. Soundwise we don't try to sound like any modern band. Quite the opposite as we got all the gear they got in the 80s and created something you don't hear that often. An album that could have been made back in the days.! A real journey of hearts put into the music.

- Pfff having a favourite??..hahaha…Ok...I think ‚The Game, Afterlife and Shattered Dreams‘ are typically songs that tells the story of Sparklands….they’re all different but there still what AOR is all about….but I think each listener can have their favourites..because music in general is very personal.
Will it be a second part of "Tomocyclus"?
- We have plans of making a second album..I can’t say it is the second part..but we will give our best to making a good follow up album :-).
Have you introduce the album to the audience with live shows? Which has been the reaction of the people?
- We played our songs and people reacted positive on Sparklands live….we want to play as much as possible..but as a beginning band we have to work on our reputation. Every interview and live show can contribute to that proces. So we’re very happy when we have the possibility like this interview..!
How is it the AOR scene on your country?
- In Holland there’s a scene but I think not that big as in Sweden, Germany and the UK..but there are still a lot of old bands..coming together again and making new albums. Bands that were big here..are mostly not big in other countries.. So it’s time to bring the scene back to life!
Is it any band that we should know?
- I think a good new band is the band of Adrian Vandenberg..guitarplayer of Whitesnake…It’s called MOONKINGS..I’m expecting a lot from those guys!
Which are your favorite bands?
- I have a lot of favourites..but one..for me in particular is Giant..it’s good / fine combination of melodies, guitars, drums, synths and harmony vocals..good songs, power ballads and rock tunes..
I don’t know..but when you’re not acquainted with Whiteheart’s albums Freedom and Tales of Wonder..you should listen to those records.. Dann Huff from Giant was also involved and co-founder of Whiteheart in his early days.
Do you follow the actual AOR scene? Which new bands would you recommend us?
- Due to AOR journey the last few years I follow the AOR scene more and more…What i can recommend? Uhh I think Work of Art…the new Moonkings and Lava are fine bands to listen to.
Which other hobbies do you have apart from the music?
- I like to cycle a lot……and cook a fine dinner..I’m also a soccer fool…which you guys in Spain have some of the best players for in the world! :-)
What do you think about those projects that they just choose a famous singer and he just puts his voice, nothing else? Do you think that this kind of project helps or damage the AOR?
- Well, I don’t think that it's damaging to AOR..but you can ask yourself if it’s creative enough..because I think there are a lot of good singers not yet discovered..otherwise they’re called projects..and it’s all about good songs and the fun they having in making those projects..so if it’s working for them and I like what I hear..to me it’s no problem as long as there is room for new bands…
From your favorite albums, in which ones you would have liked to participate?
- Hahahaaa being part of Toto on the Seventh One and Giant..Time to Burn!
Do you know any Spanish melodic band?
- I don’t know them personally but we’re signed at a Spanish booker: Izkar Producciones….so there must be a good spanish melodic band.
