"Quienes frecuentamos facebook conocemos a Chris Siloma porque se mueve por los diferentes grupos dedicados al Hard Rock/AOR/Melodic Rock de la popular red social apoyando a sus bandas y a dichos estilos en general. Para saber más de él y de su compañía C.S. Management & Promotions, nuestro compañero Juanan se puso en contacto con Chris, y esto fue lo que le contó:"
Juanan: Hola Chris, muchas gracias por concedernos esta entrevista. Para abrir fuego, ¿Cómo son tus comienzos en el mundo de la música?
Chris Siloma: Hola Juanan, gracias a ti también por la entrevista. Bueno empecé a escuchar música Heavy Metal cuando era niño, más o menos cuando tenía 10 años y empecé a comprar discos en las tiendas locales como hacían todos los niños. De niño tome clases de guitarra clásica y de canto en una escuela de música durante 4-5 años pero pensé que las clases de música clásica tenían que terminar porque nunca quise ser un cantante clásico cantando ópera o así, y ésta era la dirección a la que me llevaba la escuela... continué tomando clases de canto con John Jeff Touch durante unos 4-5 años más, estas clases estaban más dentro del Rock, que es lo que me gustaba. Así es como empecé…
Más tarde 4-5 amigos de la escuela que compartíamos la misma pasión por la música Heavy Metal/Hard Rock creamos la banda "Dr. Love" alrededor del año 2000 y tocamos en muchos bares locales y en algunos concursos, normalmente versiones de canciones más algunas propias, soñando en ser estrellas del Rock (risas), ya sabes cómo funciona esto cuando eres un niño...
Has creado C.S. Management & Promotions, ¿cómo decides montar tu propia empresa?
- La idea de C.S. Management & Promotions empezó sobre el año 2010 cuando pensé que podría hacer el festival “Rosewood Festival” en mi ciudad natal de Thessaloniki y ayudar a las bandas griegas para que estuvieran juntas con el propósito de promover su música a todo el mundo y tener una causa conjunta. Durante 2000-2005/6 el público y las bandas estaban unidas y apoyaban la música Hard Rock pero después de 2006 algo cambió y no lo hicieron. Las bandas rompieron y el público llego a su límite. Me sentía mal cuando iba a un concierto y veía solo 50 personas en vez de 200-400 como estaba acostumbrado antes de 2005. Aunque el primer Rosewood Festival no fue bien porque no asistió mucha gente, el siguiente año, 2012, decidí llevar a bandas de Europa para ver si así asistía más gente... pero el resultado fue el mismo y por eso ese fue el último.
Ahora después de Rosewood Festival 1, había escuchado las demos y casi el disco entero de Wild Rose “Half Past Midnight”, que lo cogí para la promoción del festival y pregunté a algunos sellos y dos de ellos estaban interesados. Así que llamé a Andy Rock y le conté las noticias y luego me preguntó si quería ser su manager y así es como empezó todo.
¿Qué servicios ofrece tu empresa?
- Mi compañía gestiona, promociona, diseña y contrata, con el objetivo de tener el mejor resultado para cada grupo. Por lo menos intento hacer lo mejor porque necesita trabajo duro por parte de los dos, mío y de los grupos.
¿Qué requisitos debe cumplir un grupo para trabajar con él?
- Primero, recibo muchas solicitudes de bandas de todo el mundo y muchas de ellas ni siquiera están en el Hard Rock o Heavy Metal... ya tengo puesto en mi página que no acepto bandas que no toquen estos géneros. Si un grupo toca Hard Rock y sus canciones son suficientemente buenas y me gusta trabajar con ellos lo haré, pero no puedo trabajar con todos ellos (me refiero a aceptar cualquier propuesta sólo por el dinero; primero soy un fan y luego viene lo demás) es mucho para mí y ya tengo a 5 grupos en mi lista... y dos o tres mas serán los últimos hasta principios de 2014. Este creo que es el límite de trabajo para mí; aunque estoy pensando en hacer un equipo mayor pero eso ya son planes de futuro. Soy sólo un hombre...
¿Qué nos puedes contar de las bandas con las que trabajas?
- Empezaré por la primera que entró en la lista, Wild Rose...
No sé por dónde empezar la verdad... esta banda es fantástica y hemos acordado en sacar 3 discos juntos (uno de ellos el del guitarrista Andy Rock). Todos han funcionado muy bien, “Half Past Midnight” está totalmente agotado en Retrospect Records desde el primer año que se editó. El de Andy Rock también fue bien y el hit de “Dangerous” estuvo en el número 1 de ventas en Japón, en el mes de junio de 2013 y estuvo a punto de ser sold out en AOR Heaven y todavía no ha pasado ni un año... Los fans los adoran desde el principio y siguen apoyándoles de una forma maravillosa y quiero dar las gracias personalmente a la banda y a todos los fans y amigos. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS! Los planes de futuro son el tercer disco de Wild Rose que saldrá en 2014 con una gran gira Europea apoyándolo, y no sólo esto... Andy está con las últimas mezclas, así que pronto tendréis grandes noticias...
Los segundos en la lista son Farraday, a principios de 2012 estos dos chicos hicieron un gran álbum de Rock Melódico 80s, “Shade Of Love” que se editó en julio en AOR Heaven y está yendo muy bien... Están teloneando a Newman que tocarán en Atenas el 25 de enero de 2014, están preparando una formación completa y continuarán como una banda real a partir de 2014 en adelante.
La tercera en mi lista después de Farraday fue Redrum en octubre del 2012.
Ya tenían su álbum debut editado en 2007 y el segundo “Victims Of Our Circumstances” de abril de 2013 distribuido por RMB Records. Luego lo completaron con la gira “Victims Of Our Circumstances” en Alemania Noruega y Grecia. La segunda parte de la gira continuará en 2014, y ya hemos anunciado el Metal Noise Festival de Chipre para el 5 de julio y recientemente el Firefest XI (The Final Fling) en el Reino Unido y más fechas por anunciar. Ya hemos anunciado una posible gira por EE.UU para octubre-noviembre de 2014 y también el Rock Harvest III Festival 2014, esperamos que se anuncie toda la gira con unos 15-20 conciertos y que finalmente contraten la gira americana.
Desde mayo de 2013 tenemos a Kingdragon, una gran banda de Hard Rock Melódico de Atenas, que si no recuerdo mal sacaron su EP en 2008 y van a sacar su album debut el 1 de enero de 2014 después de dos retrasos con su sello Retrospect Records. El disco ha obtenido grandes críticas en la red. Están preparando una gira para 2014 y ya tienen algunas fechas contratadas, pero es muy pronto para anunciarlas.
Los últimos en llegar a mi lista son los Hard Rockeros británicos Lawless, empezamos a trabajar juntos en octubre de 2013. Han sacado su álbum debut “Rock Savage”, vía Escape Records, en julio de 2013 y ya han tocado en el Reino Unido. Están planeando una gira para 2014, con el primer concierto ya anunciado para el HRH AOR 2 Festival, en el Reino Unido. Ahora mismo están trabajando en su primer videoclip oficial, para la canción “Heavy Metal Heaven”, que tuvo buena respuesta en muchas emisoras de radio fm y de internet. Las fechas de sus conciertos serán anunciadas próximamente.
¿Habrá la posibilidad de ver en España alguna de estas bandas?
- La verdad es que ya teníamos dos propuestas para que tocaran en España Wild Rose, pero tuve que cancelarlas porque el grupo no estaba disponible. Todos los grupos de mi equipo están disponibles para tocar en cualquier sitio en 2014 si hay alguna propuesta. Así que estoy ABIERTO para acuerdos con cualquiera de mis grupos para 2014 y estoy seguro que estaría genial para cualquiera de ellos tocar el mayor número de conciertos que puedan y dar grandes conciertos para los fans españoles.
¿Hay algún grupo en especial con el que te gustaría trabajar?
- Buena pregunta (risas)... Nunca he pensado en ello en serio.... así que realmente no puedo responder la pregunta. Nunca he pensado en trabajar con grandes bandas... pero quien sabe lo que traerá el futuro.
¿Crees que la piratería es perjudicial para la música? ¿Cuál crees que sería un buen plan para combatir la piratería?
- Creo que la piratería mata la música porque cuando un grupo o un sello pone dinero para distribuir su disco y alguien lo pone gratis para la gente sin preguntar etc. está muy mal. Pero por otra parte tienes a tu grupo dándose a conocer por más gente que ya no compra discos o sólo escucha tus canciones. Mi opinión es, ¿cómo se puede parar? Que no haya más descargas digitales o paquetes promocionales con canciones enteras... sólo algunos samples para algunas críticas y no más descargas digitales legales o ilegales, sólo copias físicas. Si te gusta el álbum cómpralo físicamente, léete el libreto... Esa es mi opinión y echo de menos los viejos tiempos cuando iba a mi tienda local... mirar todos esos discos de diferentes bandas, comprar algo que me gustaba y reirme y volverme loco con mi compra... Si los fans no apoyan a las bandas comprando sus discos y esto continua así... no creo que las bandas sobrevivan durante muchos años más...
¿Es el Melodic Rock/AOR un estilo en vías de extinción?
- No hay música que pueda desaparecer y no hay ser humano que pueda vivir sin música, la música está en todas partes. De todas maneras puedo ver y puedo decir que el Rock Melódico está creciendo un poquito pero sólo eso. Si los grandes sellos no lo apoyan, no llegará mucho más lejos...
¿Se puede vivir de la música en estos tiempos de crisis?
- La respuesta es NO... como le digo a las bandas y a todos que hacen lo posible para mover sus discos y que tienen grandes gastos para promocionar y distribuir su disco; así que, mientras que los fans no los compren y teniendo en cuenta como van las ventas... tenemos un largo camino entre nosotros para que un músico pueda realmente vivir de la música.
¿Sigues en activo con tu banda Dr. Love? ¿Tienes alguna otra banda actualmente?
- La formación original de Dr. Love y el grupo dejó de estar activo a principios de 2008 después de la edición de 200 copias de la grabación en directo de nuestra primera demo. Como he dicho sólo éramos niños y todos los miembros cambiaron de gustos de música... (excepto yo puedo decir) soy el único de la formación original al que le sigue gustando el Hard Rock. Los otros se encaminaron hacia el Thrash o el Black Metal... Lo he intentado con dos formaciones diferentes pero terminamos, hicimos 2-3 conciertos hasta finales de 2008 y tomamos parte en el albun tríbuto de Alien en 2011 con la canción “Somewhere Out There” y eso fue todo. La verdad es que estaba muy cansado de buscar gente que quisiera tocar simple Hard Rock y que se involucraran. Así que lo he dejado apartado en una balda. Quién sabe, tal vez algún día... lo único que puedo decir es que lo pasé muy bien con los chicos y seguimos siendo amigos cuando nos encontramos.
¿Cómo es la escena Melodic Rock/AOR griega? ¿Hay alguna nueva banda que tengamos que tener en cuenta en el futuro?
- Hoy en día no hay ninguna banda en Grecia que toque Rock Melódico (por lo menos no lo sé), hay nuevas bandas que surgen pero son casi siempre estilo Glam/Sleaze/New Wave, que no me gustan porque no encajan en mis gustos personales. Pero no bandas de Rock Melódico excepto las que ya se conocen.
¿Cuáles son tus bandas favoritas de siempre?
- Puedo decir muchas, Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Cinderella, Foreigner (sólo con Lou Gramm y Lou Gramm en general), Gotthard (sólo con Steve Lee RIP), cuando le conocí me pareció una gran y auténtica persona, Whitesnake, Winger… podría decir muchos más... pero estos son los que considero más importantes y son las bandas con las que crecí.
¿Se puede seguir disfrutando de la música por igual cuando tu pasión se convierte en tu trabajo?
- Sí, pero la verdad es que estoy con mis bandas desde las primeras mezclas o desde la creación de las canciones, lleva mucho tiempo hacer un álbum y escuchas las canciones un millón de veces antes de que se edite. Así que hasta que sale el disco algunas veces pierdes la pasión en ellos y quieres escuchar algo diferente para que salgan de tu cabeza... después de varios meses cuando ya sale el CD te lo pones en el estéreo y siguen sonando genial así que la pasión nunca acaba aunque lo hayas escuchado muchas veces y sepas todos los detalles de cada canción. Algunas veces te vienen a la memoria cosas de la grabación, de las mezclas y cosas divertidas con los grupos cuando los estás escuchando y te sientes genial.
A ti te hemos conocido por las redes sociales como facebook apoyando a tus bandas en los distintos grupos dedicados al Melodic Rock/AOR, ¿son una buena herramienta las redes sociales para dar a conocer y apoyar a las bandas?
- Sí lo son. Por supuesto antes del facebook estaba el myspace... Las redes sociales son lo mejor para apoyar a las bandas con cada post hecho por ti, por las bandas o incluso los fans. Si quieres mi opinión sobre el facebook es una herramienta genial para promocionar tu música y pasarlo bien con otras cosas que te interesen aparte de la música, realmente es como un juego... y una buena cosa es que puedes hablar con muchos amigos que no están cerca o que no tienes la oportunidad de conocerlos personalmente.
¿Crees que las redes sociales están matando lentamente a las webs especializadas o por el contrario se complementan bien?
- No, creo que se complementan muy bien juntas por los dos lados puedes promocionar cada web, desde la web de tu grupo o tu web desde la pagina de tu grupo. Por supuesto la forma más correcta y clara de estar conectados con una banda es su propia página web. A partir de esto, todas las páginas deben de estar informadas y dentro de una red social o algo que tengas.
¿Crees que está ya todo inventado en el Melodic Rock/AOR y qué todas las bandas nuevas son una copia de las grandes bandas de los ’80, o ves bandas nuevas que se intenten aportar algo nuevo?
- Nunca he pensado en esto... Cada grupo tiene un feeling diferente y lo puedes encontrar en sus canciones... ahora bien, todos han cogido algo de otros, es natural... el Hard Rock está hecho con 4 acordes así que... todo empieza desde ahí. Nunca he criticado a un grupo porque una canción suene a otra (tal vez me ría un poco porque me recuerda a la otra canción, pero eso es todo) yo veo y escucho lo que esta canción me quiere decir.
Nos acabamos de enterar que Redrum tocará en el Firefest 2014, ¿Qué supone esto para ti?
- Sí, se anunció hace unos días. Ha sido un gran placer para mí y estoy muy ilusionado después de intentar durante años que una de mis bandas tocara ahí, así que cuando sonó el teléfono y escuche las palabras "Chris... Redrum" para tocar en el Firefest 2014 me sentí genial. Lo "malo" fue que no se lo podía contar a nadie hasta el que se hiciera el último anuncio, porque podía ser Darganizado (refiriéndose a Kieran Dargan organzador del Firefest)... (risas), estaba a punto de explotar durante esos tres meses sabiéndolo y sin poder decírselo a nadie, pero así es como funciona el festival y el anuncio "es un misterio". Redrum es la primera banda griega que toca en un festival tan genial como el Firefest y estoy orgulloso de este logro para mi país que está allí por primera vez y por última porque como todos sabemos es The Final Fling. Todo el grupo está ilusionado por esto, están preparando una gran fiesta concierto y darán una gran actuación para todos. Así que todo lo que puedo decir es ¡qué llegue el Firefest XI (The Final Fling)!

Juanan: Hello Chris, thanks for the interview. To begin with the interview. How did you start on the music world?
Chris Siloma: Hello Juanan, thanks too for this interview. Well, I started listening to heavy metal music from when I was a child around 10 years old & started buying albums I liked from local stores etc. as every child did. As a child I took some classic/al guitar & vocal lessons to a music school for around 4-5years but I thought that classic music lessons had to stop for me cause I never wanted to be a classical singer singing opera or so and this was the direction were the music school dragged me into... continued taking vocal personal lessons with John Jeff Touch later on for another 4-5 years and these lessons was more in the rock thing that I always liked. That's how it all started...
Later on we were 4-5 friends at school that had the same passion of Heavy metal / Hard Rock music so we created our hard rock band “Dr.Love” around 2000 and we played to many local bars and some competitions, usually covers of songs plus some of our songs too and made dreams about being rockstars (laughs) you know how this works in your head when you're a child.
You have created C.S. Management & Promotions, How did you decide to create your own company?
- Thoughts about C.S. Management & Promotions started around 2010 when I thought I can make a festival “Rosewood Festival” in my hometown Thessaloniki and help the Greek bands to be all together for one purpose to promote their music to all the people and be all together united cause back and from 2000-2005/6 crowds and bands were all united and supported Hard Rock music but after 2006 something changed and they didn't. Bands broke up and crowds went to the limit. I was feeling bad of going to a gig watching around 50 people in it instead of 200-400 that I was used to before 2005. Though the first Rosewood Festival didn't went well cause of not enough people and later on the next year 2012 I decided to bring and bands from around Europe so maybe more people will come... the result though was the same so that's why it stopped and it was the last one.
Now after Rosewood Festival 1 I already had heard the demos and the almost final Wild Rose – Half Past Midnight album that I took for the promotion of the festival and I asked some labels and 2 of them were interested. So I called Andy Rock and told him about the news and then he asked me to be their manager that's how it all started.
What kind of services gives your company?
- My company gives management, promotion, designs and bookings and aiming for the best result for each band. At least I try the best I can do cause it needs hard work from both me and the bands.
What does a band needs to have to work with them?
- First of all, I'm taking requests for many bands around the globe and most of them are not into hard rock or even heavy metal... I already have in my page that I don't accept bands that are not playing anything except these genres. If the band is playing hard rock and their songs are good enough and I like to work with them I will but I can't work with all of them (I mean take every request just for the money; I'm firstly a fan and then comes all the others) you know it's too much for me and I already got 5 bands on my roster...and another 2 or 3 will be the final ones till early 2014. That's what I think is the limit for me to work with; though already thinking about makin' a bigger team but that's on the future plans. I'm just a man...
What could you tell us about the bands you work with?
- I'll start from the 1st one that entered by roster Wild Rose...
I don't know were to start from the truth is … this band is just amazing and we accomplished to release 3 albums together (one of them personal guitarists Andy Rock's one). All of them went really great Half Past Midnight is already sold out from Retrospect Records from the first year of the release. Andy Rock's one went really great too and Dangerous hit the #1 on the import sale charts in Japan in June 2013 and is close to sold out from AOR Heaven and not a year already passed... The fans really loved them all the way from the start and they keep supporting the band in an amazing way and I want to personally thank the band and all of the fans and friends! A big THANK YOU! Future plans is the 3rd Wild Rose to be released in 2014 along with a full tour around Europe to support it and not only this...! Andy is already on the final mixes so wait some big news to come over you soon...
Farraday came over 2nd on my roster at the start of August 2012 these two guys have delivered a great 80's melodic rock album Shade Of Love which have been released in July from AOR Heaven and it's going really well... They are already supporting Newman who are playing at Athens in 25 January 2014 and they are preparing their final full line up and will continue with it as a full band from 2014 and beyond.
Third band after Farraday it was Redrum in October 2012 who got in my roster...
They had already their debut album released from back into 2007 and delivered their 2nd one Victims Of Our Circumstances in April 2013 from RMB Records. Later on they completed the 1st leg 2013 of their Victims Of Our Circumstances Tour in Germany , Norway and Greece. 2nd Leg of the tour will continue in 2014 and we've already announced Mental Noise Festival at Cyprus July 5th and recently Firefest XI (The Final Fling) in UK with more dates to be announced. We've already announced and a possible October-November 2014 US Tour and already announced Rock Harvest III Festival 2014 and hope the whole tour will be around 15-20 gigs and we finnaly rock the US too if the shows will be all booked!
2013 May and we're together with Kingdragon a great melodic hard rock band from Athens who already had their EP out from 2008 if I remember well and they are going to release their debut at January 1st 2014 after 2 delays from their label Retrospect Records as a final release date without further delays. The album has already taken rave reviews through the net! They are already preparing a tour for 2014 and have already some gigs booked but it's too early to be announced.
Final newcomers on my roster was the British Hard Rockers Lawless we started working together this October 2013. They had already released their debut album Rock Savage through Escape Records Ltd. in July 2013 and already played gigs around UK. They are planning also a tour for 2014 with first show announced HRH AOR 2 Festival in UK. Nowdays they're working on their 1st official videoclip for the song Heavy Metal Heaven which achieved great airplays from many fm and internet radio stations worldwide and shows will be announced later on...
Will it be any choice to see any of this bands in Spain?
- The truth is that already had 2 requests for Wild Rose to perform in Spain but I canceled cause the band wasn't available to tour in 2013. All the bands of my roster till now are available to tour in 2014 everywhere if being asked. So, I'm OPEN for any deals of any of my bands for 2014 and I'm sure it will be great for all of them to perform as many more gigs as they could and deliver amazing shows for the Spanish fans.
Is there any special band that you would like to work with?
- Nice question (laughs)... Never thought about it the truth is... so I can't really answer the question. Never thought of working with big bands etc. but who knows what the future has to deliver.
Do you think that the piracy damage the music business? What do you think would be a good plan to fight against piracy?
- I think piracy kills music cause when a band or a label puts it's money to deliver an album and someone gives it for free without asking etc. it's really bad. But you know from another side your band is being known to more people who are not buying cds anymore or just listen to your songs. My opinion about how this can stop? Is no more digital downloads or promo packages with full songs … only with samples for reviews and no more digital illegal or legal downloading only physical copies. If you like the album buy the real stuff, read the booklet etc. That's my opinion though and I really miss the old days when I went to my local store … looked at all those albums from different bands , bought something I liked and went hope and laughed like crazy of my purchase or so... If the fans won't support the bands by buying their albums and this still continues ... I don't think that bands will survive for many more years...
Do you think that the Melodic Rock/AOR music is in its way to disappear?
- No music can disappear and not a human can live without music, music is everywhere. However I can see and say that Melodic Rock in our days is rising a bit but that's all. If the big labels won't support it it won't go any much further...
Someone can live from the music this days?
- The answer is NO... as I said bands and everyone do their best to deliver their albums and have big expenses to deliver and promote their new stuff ; so, as long as fans don't buy them and with having in mind how the sales are going...we still have a long road among us for a musician to really live from music.
Are you still active with your band Dr.Love? Do you have any other band?
- The original line up of Dr.Love and the band stopped being active from early 2008 after the release of our 1st demo live recording wt 200copies. As I said we were just children back then and every member chanced it's mind about his music taste... (except me I can say so ) lol I'm the only one who stayed in the Hard rock genre from the original line up. The other guys moved to thrash or black metal etc. Have tried with another 2 different line ups after we broke , we did 2-3shows till the end of 2008 and just took part on the Alien Tribute album in 2011 with the song somewhere out there and that was it... The truth is that I was really tired of searching for members who want to play simple Hard Rock and be into it by themselves. So , I just left it behind me on a shelf. Who knows maybe one day... but all I can say is that I really had loads of fun with all of the guys and we're still friends when we met each other around.
How is the Melodic Rock/AOR greek scene? Is there any band that we will have to listen to in a future?
- In our days there are not any other bands playing Melodic Rock in Greece (at least I don't know), new bands appear here and there mostly on Glam/Sleaze/New Wave genre which I don't like at all cause they don't fit my personal hearings (that's my taste or so). But not melodic rock bands at all except of them already known.
Which are your favorite bands?
- Oh big thing... I can say many but I can clear your thoughts in some things....
Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Cinderella, Foreigner (Only with Lou Gramm and Lou Gramm in general), Gotthard (only with Steve Lee) RIP and it was a really great and true person from when I met him back in the days, Whitesnake, Winger and many more others to mention...but that's only what I have in my highest point of thoughts and they are bands I've grown up with.
Do you still enjoy listening to music even when your passion becomes your job?
- Yes, but the truth is that with most all of my bands I'm with them from the first mixes or their creation of the songs so till the time passes you know listening to mixes and things just takes loads of time to deliver a great album and you are already listening to the songs I can say a million times before they are going to be released. So till they are released you sometimes lose some passion for them and you really want to listen to something else to clear them from your head and thoughts... after some months when you put the cd on the stereo you are still feeling amazing so the passion never ends even after you've heard them so many times and know each and every detail of each song. Sometimes also you recall some memories recordings, mixes and fun times with the bands when you listen to them and it just feels amazing!
We have known about you from the social nets like facebook, supporting different Melodic Rock/AOR bands . Do you think that the social nets are the right tools to support the bands?
- Yes they are. Of course before facebook it was myspace etc. Social nets are the best to support the bands with every post made by you the bands or even by fans. If you want my opinion about facebook it's a great tool to promote your music and you can also have fun with everything you're interested except music etc actually it's like a game... and a good thing is that you can talk with many friends you're not close to or you don't have the chance to meet them in person etc.
Do you think that the social nets are killing the specialized webs or do you think that they support each other?
- No, I think that both are linked very well together and from both sides you can promote each web even your band page through your web or your web through the band page. Of course the most clear and correct way to be connected with the band is their official specialized website. From then on all pages must be well informed and into every social net page or something you got.
Do you think that it is everything done on the Melodic Rock/AOR and that all the bands are just a copy of the big 80s bands, or do you think that there are new bands that they give something new?
- Never thought about this... Each band has a different feeling and you can find it on their songs... now ok everyone has taken something from someone cause it's natural .. Hard Rock was made by 4chords so... everything has started from it. Though I never criticize a band if a song looks like another one (maybe I'll laugh a bit but that's cause it will remind me the other one, but that's it) I'm watching and listening to what this song has to say to me.
We have just known that Redrum will play at Firefest 2014. What does this means for you?
- Yes, it was just announced before some days! It was a great pleasure and achievement for me and got really excited after trying for many years to put any of my bands to play there and when the phone rang and I heard the first words “Chris … Redrum” to perform at Firefest 2014 I felt really amazing. The “bad” thing was that I couldn't tell anyone about it till the final announcement will be made cause I was about to be Darganized... (laughs) and I was about to explode 3 months knowing and not telling anyone but that's how the festival rules are “it's a mystery” announcement... Redrum is the first band based in Greece that plays to a great festival like Firefest is and I'm also proud of achieving this for my country to be there for the 1st and the last time cause as we all know it's the Final Fling. The whole band is also excited about this and they are preparing an amazing PARTY show and will give an amazing performance for everyone! So all I can say is Roll On Firefest XI (The Final Fling)!

Juanan: Hola Chris, muchas gracias por concedernos esta entrevista. Para abrir fuego, ¿Cómo son tus comienzos en el mundo de la música?
Chris Siloma: Hola Juanan, gracias a ti también por la entrevista. Bueno empecé a escuchar música Heavy Metal cuando era niño, más o menos cuando tenía 10 años y empecé a comprar discos en las tiendas locales como hacían todos los niños. De niño tome clases de guitarra clásica y de canto en una escuela de música durante 4-5 años pero pensé que las clases de música clásica tenían que terminar porque nunca quise ser un cantante clásico cantando ópera o así, y ésta era la dirección a la que me llevaba la escuela... continué tomando clases de canto con John Jeff Touch durante unos 4-5 años más, estas clases estaban más dentro del Rock, que es lo que me gustaba. Así es como empecé…
Más tarde 4-5 amigos de la escuela que compartíamos la misma pasión por la música Heavy Metal/Hard Rock creamos la banda "Dr. Love" alrededor del año 2000 y tocamos en muchos bares locales y en algunos concursos, normalmente versiones de canciones más algunas propias, soñando en ser estrellas del Rock (risas), ya sabes cómo funciona esto cuando eres un niño...
Has creado C.S. Management & Promotions, ¿cómo decides montar tu propia empresa?
- La idea de C.S. Management & Promotions empezó sobre el año 2010 cuando pensé que podría hacer el festival “Rosewood Festival” en mi ciudad natal de Thessaloniki y ayudar a las bandas griegas para que estuvieran juntas con el propósito de promover su música a todo el mundo y tener una causa conjunta. Durante 2000-2005/6 el público y las bandas estaban unidas y apoyaban la música Hard Rock pero después de 2006 algo cambió y no lo hicieron. Las bandas rompieron y el público llego a su límite. Me sentía mal cuando iba a un concierto y veía solo 50 personas en vez de 200-400 como estaba acostumbrado antes de 2005. Aunque el primer Rosewood Festival no fue bien porque no asistió mucha gente, el siguiente año, 2012, decidí llevar a bandas de Europa para ver si así asistía más gente... pero el resultado fue el mismo y por eso ese fue el último.
Ahora después de Rosewood Festival 1, había escuchado las demos y casi el disco entero de Wild Rose “Half Past Midnight”, que lo cogí para la promoción del festival y pregunté a algunos sellos y dos de ellos estaban interesados. Así que llamé a Andy Rock y le conté las noticias y luego me preguntó si quería ser su manager y así es como empezó todo.
¿Qué servicios ofrece tu empresa?
- Mi compañía gestiona, promociona, diseña y contrata, con el objetivo de tener el mejor resultado para cada grupo. Por lo menos intento hacer lo mejor porque necesita trabajo duro por parte de los dos, mío y de los grupos.
¿Qué requisitos debe cumplir un grupo para trabajar con él?
- Primero, recibo muchas solicitudes de bandas de todo el mundo y muchas de ellas ni siquiera están en el Hard Rock o Heavy Metal... ya tengo puesto en mi página que no acepto bandas que no toquen estos géneros. Si un grupo toca Hard Rock y sus canciones son suficientemente buenas y me gusta trabajar con ellos lo haré, pero no puedo trabajar con todos ellos (me refiero a aceptar cualquier propuesta sólo por el dinero; primero soy un fan y luego viene lo demás) es mucho para mí y ya tengo a 5 grupos en mi lista... y dos o tres mas serán los últimos hasta principios de 2014. Este creo que es el límite de trabajo para mí; aunque estoy pensando en hacer un equipo mayor pero eso ya son planes de futuro. Soy sólo un hombre...
¿Qué nos puedes contar de las bandas con las que trabajas?
- Empezaré por la primera que entró en la lista, Wild Rose...
No sé por dónde empezar la verdad... esta banda es fantástica y hemos acordado en sacar 3 discos juntos (uno de ellos el del guitarrista Andy Rock). Todos han funcionado muy bien, “Half Past Midnight” está totalmente agotado en Retrospect Records desde el primer año que se editó. El de Andy Rock también fue bien y el hit de “Dangerous” estuvo en el número 1 de ventas en Japón, en el mes de junio de 2013 y estuvo a punto de ser sold out en AOR Heaven y todavía no ha pasado ni un año... Los fans los adoran desde el principio y siguen apoyándoles de una forma maravillosa y quiero dar las gracias personalmente a la banda y a todos los fans y amigos. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS! Los planes de futuro son el tercer disco de Wild Rose que saldrá en 2014 con una gran gira Europea apoyándolo, y no sólo esto... Andy está con las últimas mezclas, así que pronto tendréis grandes noticias...
Los segundos en la lista son Farraday, a principios de 2012 estos dos chicos hicieron un gran álbum de Rock Melódico 80s, “Shade Of Love” que se editó en julio en AOR Heaven y está yendo muy bien... Están teloneando a Newman que tocarán en Atenas el 25 de enero de 2014, están preparando una formación completa y continuarán como una banda real a partir de 2014 en adelante.
La tercera en mi lista después de Farraday fue Redrum en octubre del 2012.
Ya tenían su álbum debut editado en 2007 y el segundo “Victims Of Our Circumstances” de abril de 2013 distribuido por RMB Records. Luego lo completaron con la gira “Victims Of Our Circumstances” en Alemania Noruega y Grecia. La segunda parte de la gira continuará en 2014, y ya hemos anunciado el Metal Noise Festival de Chipre para el 5 de julio y recientemente el Firefest XI (The Final Fling) en el Reino Unido y más fechas por anunciar. Ya hemos anunciado una posible gira por EE.UU para octubre-noviembre de 2014 y también el Rock Harvest III Festival 2014, esperamos que se anuncie toda la gira con unos 15-20 conciertos y que finalmente contraten la gira americana.
Desde mayo de 2013 tenemos a Kingdragon, una gran banda de Hard Rock Melódico de Atenas, que si no recuerdo mal sacaron su EP en 2008 y van a sacar su album debut el 1 de enero de 2014 después de dos retrasos con su sello Retrospect Records. El disco ha obtenido grandes críticas en la red. Están preparando una gira para 2014 y ya tienen algunas fechas contratadas, pero es muy pronto para anunciarlas.
Los últimos en llegar a mi lista son los Hard Rockeros británicos Lawless, empezamos a trabajar juntos en octubre de 2013. Han sacado su álbum debut “Rock Savage”, vía Escape Records, en julio de 2013 y ya han tocado en el Reino Unido. Están planeando una gira para 2014, con el primer concierto ya anunciado para el HRH AOR 2 Festival, en el Reino Unido. Ahora mismo están trabajando en su primer videoclip oficial, para la canción “Heavy Metal Heaven”, que tuvo buena respuesta en muchas emisoras de radio fm y de internet. Las fechas de sus conciertos serán anunciadas próximamente.
¿Habrá la posibilidad de ver en España alguna de estas bandas?
- La verdad es que ya teníamos dos propuestas para que tocaran en España Wild Rose, pero tuve que cancelarlas porque el grupo no estaba disponible. Todos los grupos de mi equipo están disponibles para tocar en cualquier sitio en 2014 si hay alguna propuesta. Así que estoy ABIERTO para acuerdos con cualquiera de mis grupos para 2014 y estoy seguro que estaría genial para cualquiera de ellos tocar el mayor número de conciertos que puedan y dar grandes conciertos para los fans españoles.
¿Hay algún grupo en especial con el que te gustaría trabajar?
- Buena pregunta (risas)... Nunca he pensado en ello en serio.... así que realmente no puedo responder la pregunta. Nunca he pensado en trabajar con grandes bandas... pero quien sabe lo que traerá el futuro.
¿Crees que la piratería es perjudicial para la música? ¿Cuál crees que sería un buen plan para combatir la piratería?
- Creo que la piratería mata la música porque cuando un grupo o un sello pone dinero para distribuir su disco y alguien lo pone gratis para la gente sin preguntar etc. está muy mal. Pero por otra parte tienes a tu grupo dándose a conocer por más gente que ya no compra discos o sólo escucha tus canciones. Mi opinión es, ¿cómo se puede parar? Que no haya más descargas digitales o paquetes promocionales con canciones enteras... sólo algunos samples para algunas críticas y no más descargas digitales legales o ilegales, sólo copias físicas. Si te gusta el álbum cómpralo físicamente, léete el libreto... Esa es mi opinión y echo de menos los viejos tiempos cuando iba a mi tienda local... mirar todos esos discos de diferentes bandas, comprar algo que me gustaba y reirme y volverme loco con mi compra... Si los fans no apoyan a las bandas comprando sus discos y esto continua así... no creo que las bandas sobrevivan durante muchos años más...
¿Es el Melodic Rock/AOR un estilo en vías de extinción?
- No hay música que pueda desaparecer y no hay ser humano que pueda vivir sin música, la música está en todas partes. De todas maneras puedo ver y puedo decir que el Rock Melódico está creciendo un poquito pero sólo eso. Si los grandes sellos no lo apoyan, no llegará mucho más lejos...
¿Se puede vivir de la música en estos tiempos de crisis?
- La respuesta es NO... como le digo a las bandas y a todos que hacen lo posible para mover sus discos y que tienen grandes gastos para promocionar y distribuir su disco; así que, mientras que los fans no los compren y teniendo en cuenta como van las ventas... tenemos un largo camino entre nosotros para que un músico pueda realmente vivir de la música.
¿Sigues en activo con tu banda Dr. Love? ¿Tienes alguna otra banda actualmente?
- La formación original de Dr. Love y el grupo dejó de estar activo a principios de 2008 después de la edición de 200 copias de la grabación en directo de nuestra primera demo. Como he dicho sólo éramos niños y todos los miembros cambiaron de gustos de música... (excepto yo puedo decir) soy el único de la formación original al que le sigue gustando el Hard Rock. Los otros se encaminaron hacia el Thrash o el Black Metal... Lo he intentado con dos formaciones diferentes pero terminamos, hicimos 2-3 conciertos hasta finales de 2008 y tomamos parte en el albun tríbuto de Alien en 2011 con la canción “Somewhere Out There” y eso fue todo. La verdad es que estaba muy cansado de buscar gente que quisiera tocar simple Hard Rock y que se involucraran. Así que lo he dejado apartado en una balda. Quién sabe, tal vez algún día... lo único que puedo decir es que lo pasé muy bien con los chicos y seguimos siendo amigos cuando nos encontramos.
¿Cómo es la escena Melodic Rock/AOR griega? ¿Hay alguna nueva banda que tengamos que tener en cuenta en el futuro?
- Hoy en día no hay ninguna banda en Grecia que toque Rock Melódico (por lo menos no lo sé), hay nuevas bandas que surgen pero son casi siempre estilo Glam/Sleaze/New Wave, que no me gustan porque no encajan en mis gustos personales. Pero no bandas de Rock Melódico excepto las que ya se conocen.
¿Cuáles son tus bandas favoritas de siempre?
- Puedo decir muchas, Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Cinderella, Foreigner (sólo con Lou Gramm y Lou Gramm en general), Gotthard (sólo con Steve Lee RIP), cuando le conocí me pareció una gran y auténtica persona, Whitesnake, Winger… podría decir muchos más... pero estos son los que considero más importantes y son las bandas con las que crecí.
¿Se puede seguir disfrutando de la música por igual cuando tu pasión se convierte en tu trabajo?
- Sí, pero la verdad es que estoy con mis bandas desde las primeras mezclas o desde la creación de las canciones, lleva mucho tiempo hacer un álbum y escuchas las canciones un millón de veces antes de que se edite. Así que hasta que sale el disco algunas veces pierdes la pasión en ellos y quieres escuchar algo diferente para que salgan de tu cabeza... después de varios meses cuando ya sale el CD te lo pones en el estéreo y siguen sonando genial así que la pasión nunca acaba aunque lo hayas escuchado muchas veces y sepas todos los detalles de cada canción. Algunas veces te vienen a la memoria cosas de la grabación, de las mezclas y cosas divertidas con los grupos cuando los estás escuchando y te sientes genial.
A ti te hemos conocido por las redes sociales como facebook apoyando a tus bandas en los distintos grupos dedicados al Melodic Rock/AOR, ¿son una buena herramienta las redes sociales para dar a conocer y apoyar a las bandas?
- Sí lo son. Por supuesto antes del facebook estaba el myspace... Las redes sociales son lo mejor para apoyar a las bandas con cada post hecho por ti, por las bandas o incluso los fans. Si quieres mi opinión sobre el facebook es una herramienta genial para promocionar tu música y pasarlo bien con otras cosas que te interesen aparte de la música, realmente es como un juego... y una buena cosa es que puedes hablar con muchos amigos que no están cerca o que no tienes la oportunidad de conocerlos personalmente.
¿Crees que las redes sociales están matando lentamente a las webs especializadas o por el contrario se complementan bien?
- No, creo que se complementan muy bien juntas por los dos lados puedes promocionar cada web, desde la web de tu grupo o tu web desde la pagina de tu grupo. Por supuesto la forma más correcta y clara de estar conectados con una banda es su propia página web. A partir de esto, todas las páginas deben de estar informadas y dentro de una red social o algo que tengas.
¿Crees que está ya todo inventado en el Melodic Rock/AOR y qué todas las bandas nuevas son una copia de las grandes bandas de los ’80, o ves bandas nuevas que se intenten aportar algo nuevo?
- Nunca he pensado en esto... Cada grupo tiene un feeling diferente y lo puedes encontrar en sus canciones... ahora bien, todos han cogido algo de otros, es natural... el Hard Rock está hecho con 4 acordes así que... todo empieza desde ahí. Nunca he criticado a un grupo porque una canción suene a otra (tal vez me ría un poco porque me recuerda a la otra canción, pero eso es todo) yo veo y escucho lo que esta canción me quiere decir.
Nos acabamos de enterar que Redrum tocará en el Firefest 2014, ¿Qué supone esto para ti?
- Sí, se anunció hace unos días. Ha sido un gran placer para mí y estoy muy ilusionado después de intentar durante años que una de mis bandas tocara ahí, así que cuando sonó el teléfono y escuche las palabras "Chris... Redrum" para tocar en el Firefest 2014 me sentí genial. Lo "malo" fue que no se lo podía contar a nadie hasta el que se hiciera el último anuncio, porque podía ser Darganizado (refiriéndose a Kieran Dargan organzador del Firefest)... (risas), estaba a punto de explotar durante esos tres meses sabiéndolo y sin poder decírselo a nadie, pero así es como funciona el festival y el anuncio "es un misterio". Redrum es la primera banda griega que toca en un festival tan genial como el Firefest y estoy orgulloso de este logro para mi país que está allí por primera vez y por última porque como todos sabemos es The Final Fling. Todo el grupo está ilusionado por esto, están preparando una gran fiesta concierto y darán una gran actuación para todos. Así que todo lo que puedo decir es ¡qué llegue el Firefest XI (The Final Fling)!

Juanan: Hello Chris, thanks for the interview. To begin with the interview. How did you start on the music world?
Chris Siloma: Hello Juanan, thanks too for this interview. Well, I started listening to heavy metal music from when I was a child around 10 years old & started buying albums I liked from local stores etc. as every child did. As a child I took some classic/al guitar & vocal lessons to a music school for around 4-5years but I thought that classic music lessons had to stop for me cause I never wanted to be a classical singer singing opera or so and this was the direction were the music school dragged me into... continued taking vocal personal lessons with John Jeff Touch later on for another 4-5 years and these lessons was more in the rock thing that I always liked. That's how it all started...
Later on we were 4-5 friends at school that had the same passion of Heavy metal / Hard Rock music so we created our hard rock band “Dr.Love” around 2000 and we played to many local bars and some competitions, usually covers of songs plus some of our songs too and made dreams about being rockstars (laughs) you know how this works in your head when you're a child.
You have created C.S. Management & Promotions, How did you decide to create your own company?
- Thoughts about C.S. Management & Promotions started around 2010 when I thought I can make a festival “Rosewood Festival” in my hometown Thessaloniki and help the Greek bands to be all together for one purpose to promote their music to all the people and be all together united cause back and from 2000-2005/6 crowds and bands were all united and supported Hard Rock music but after 2006 something changed and they didn't. Bands broke up and crowds went to the limit. I was feeling bad of going to a gig watching around 50 people in it instead of 200-400 that I was used to before 2005. Though the first Rosewood Festival didn't went well cause of not enough people and later on the next year 2012 I decided to bring and bands from around Europe so maybe more people will come... the result though was the same so that's why it stopped and it was the last one.
Now after Rosewood Festival 1 I already had heard the demos and the almost final Wild Rose – Half Past Midnight album that I took for the promotion of the festival and I asked some labels and 2 of them were interested. So I called Andy Rock and told him about the news and then he asked me to be their manager that's how it all started.
What kind of services gives your company?
- My company gives management, promotion, designs and bookings and aiming for the best result for each band. At least I try the best I can do cause it needs hard work from both me and the bands.
What does a band needs to have to work with them?
- First of all, I'm taking requests for many bands around the globe and most of them are not into hard rock or even heavy metal... I already have in my page that I don't accept bands that are not playing anything except these genres. If the band is playing hard rock and their songs are good enough and I like to work with them I will but I can't work with all of them (I mean take every request just for the money; I'm firstly a fan and then comes all the others) you know it's too much for me and I already got 5 bands on my roster...and another 2 or 3 will be the final ones till early 2014. That's what I think is the limit for me to work with; though already thinking about makin' a bigger team but that's on the future plans. I'm just a man...
What could you tell us about the bands you work with?
- I'll start from the 1st one that entered by roster Wild Rose...
I don't know were to start from the truth is … this band is just amazing and we accomplished to release 3 albums together (one of them personal guitarists Andy Rock's one). All of them went really great Half Past Midnight is already sold out from Retrospect Records from the first year of the release. Andy Rock's one went really great too and Dangerous hit the #1 on the import sale charts in Japan in June 2013 and is close to sold out from AOR Heaven and not a year already passed... The fans really loved them all the way from the start and they keep supporting the band in an amazing way and I want to personally thank the band and all of the fans and friends! A big THANK YOU! Future plans is the 3rd Wild Rose to be released in 2014 along with a full tour around Europe to support it and not only this...! Andy is already on the final mixes so wait some big news to come over you soon...
Farraday came over 2nd on my roster at the start of August 2012 these two guys have delivered a great 80's melodic rock album Shade Of Love which have been released in July from AOR Heaven and it's going really well... They are already supporting Newman who are playing at Athens in 25 January 2014 and they are preparing their final full line up and will continue with it as a full band from 2014 and beyond.
Third band after Farraday it was Redrum in October 2012 who got in my roster...
They had already their debut album released from back into 2007 and delivered their 2nd one Victims Of Our Circumstances in April 2013 from RMB Records. Later on they completed the 1st leg 2013 of their Victims Of Our Circumstances Tour in Germany , Norway and Greece. 2nd Leg of the tour will continue in 2014 and we've already announced Mental Noise Festival at Cyprus July 5th and recently Firefest XI (The Final Fling) in UK with more dates to be announced. We've already announced and a possible October-November 2014 US Tour and already announced Rock Harvest III Festival 2014 and hope the whole tour will be around 15-20 gigs and we finnaly rock the US too if the shows will be all booked!
2013 May and we're together with Kingdragon a great melodic hard rock band from Athens who already had their EP out from 2008 if I remember well and they are going to release their debut at January 1st 2014 after 2 delays from their label Retrospect Records as a final release date without further delays. The album has already taken rave reviews through the net! They are already preparing a tour for 2014 and have already some gigs booked but it's too early to be announced.
Final newcomers on my roster was the British Hard Rockers Lawless we started working together this October 2013. They had already released their debut album Rock Savage through Escape Records Ltd. in July 2013 and already played gigs around UK. They are planning also a tour for 2014 with first show announced HRH AOR 2 Festival in UK. Nowdays they're working on their 1st official videoclip for the song Heavy Metal Heaven which achieved great airplays from many fm and internet radio stations worldwide and shows will be announced later on...
Will it be any choice to see any of this bands in Spain?
- The truth is that already had 2 requests for Wild Rose to perform in Spain but I canceled cause the band wasn't available to tour in 2013. All the bands of my roster till now are available to tour in 2014 everywhere if being asked. So, I'm OPEN for any deals of any of my bands for 2014 and I'm sure it will be great for all of them to perform as many more gigs as they could and deliver amazing shows for the Spanish fans.
Is there any special band that you would like to work with?
- Nice question (laughs)... Never thought about it the truth is... so I can't really answer the question. Never thought of working with big bands etc. but who knows what the future has to deliver.
Do you think that the piracy damage the music business? What do you think would be a good plan to fight against piracy?
- I think piracy kills music cause when a band or a label puts it's money to deliver an album and someone gives it for free without asking etc. it's really bad. But you know from another side your band is being known to more people who are not buying cds anymore or just listen to your songs. My opinion about how this can stop? Is no more digital downloads or promo packages with full songs … only with samples for reviews and no more digital illegal or legal downloading only physical copies. If you like the album buy the real stuff, read the booklet etc. That's my opinion though and I really miss the old days when I went to my local store … looked at all those albums from different bands , bought something I liked and went hope and laughed like crazy of my purchase or so... If the fans won't support the bands by buying their albums and this still continues ... I don't think that bands will survive for many more years...
Do you think that the Melodic Rock/AOR music is in its way to disappear?
- No music can disappear and not a human can live without music, music is everywhere. However I can see and say that Melodic Rock in our days is rising a bit but that's all. If the big labels won't support it it won't go any much further...
Someone can live from the music this days?
- The answer is NO... as I said bands and everyone do their best to deliver their albums and have big expenses to deliver and promote their new stuff ; so, as long as fans don't buy them and with having in mind how the sales are going...we still have a long road among us for a musician to really live from music.
Are you still active with your band Dr.Love? Do you have any other band?
- The original line up of Dr.Love and the band stopped being active from early 2008 after the release of our 1st demo live recording wt 200copies. As I said we were just children back then and every member chanced it's mind about his music taste... (except me I can say so ) lol I'm the only one who stayed in the Hard rock genre from the original line up. The other guys moved to thrash or black metal etc. Have tried with another 2 different line ups after we broke , we did 2-3shows till the end of 2008 and just took part on the Alien Tribute album in 2011 with the song somewhere out there and that was it... The truth is that I was really tired of searching for members who want to play simple Hard Rock and be into it by themselves. So , I just left it behind me on a shelf. Who knows maybe one day... but all I can say is that I really had loads of fun with all of the guys and we're still friends when we met each other around.
How is the Melodic Rock/AOR greek scene? Is there any band that we will have to listen to in a future?
- In our days there are not any other bands playing Melodic Rock in Greece (at least I don't know), new bands appear here and there mostly on Glam/Sleaze/New Wave genre which I don't like at all cause they don't fit my personal hearings (that's my taste or so). But not melodic rock bands at all except of them already known.
Which are your favorite bands?
- Oh big thing... I can say many but I can clear your thoughts in some things....
Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Cinderella, Foreigner (Only with Lou Gramm and Lou Gramm in general), Gotthard (only with Steve Lee) RIP and it was a really great and true person from when I met him back in the days, Whitesnake, Winger and many more others to mention...but that's only what I have in my highest point of thoughts and they are bands I've grown up with.
Do you still enjoy listening to music even when your passion becomes your job?
- Yes, but the truth is that with most all of my bands I'm with them from the first mixes or their creation of the songs so till the time passes you know listening to mixes and things just takes loads of time to deliver a great album and you are already listening to the songs I can say a million times before they are going to be released. So till they are released you sometimes lose some passion for them and you really want to listen to something else to clear them from your head and thoughts... after some months when you put the cd on the stereo you are still feeling amazing so the passion never ends even after you've heard them so many times and know each and every detail of each song. Sometimes also you recall some memories recordings, mixes and fun times with the bands when you listen to them and it just feels amazing!
We have known about you from the social nets like facebook, supporting different Melodic Rock/AOR bands . Do you think that the social nets are the right tools to support the bands?
- Yes they are. Of course before facebook it was myspace etc. Social nets are the best to support the bands with every post made by you the bands or even by fans. If you want my opinion about facebook it's a great tool to promote your music and you can also have fun with everything you're interested except music etc actually it's like a game... and a good thing is that you can talk with many friends you're not close to or you don't have the chance to meet them in person etc.
Do you think that the social nets are killing the specialized webs or do you think that they support each other?
- No, I think that both are linked very well together and from both sides you can promote each web even your band page through your web or your web through the band page. Of course the most clear and correct way to be connected with the band is their official specialized website. From then on all pages must be well informed and into every social net page or something you got.
Do you think that it is everything done on the Melodic Rock/AOR and that all the bands are just a copy of the big 80s bands, or do you think that there are new bands that they give something new?
- Never thought about this... Each band has a different feeling and you can find it on their songs... now ok everyone has taken something from someone cause it's natural .. Hard Rock was made by 4chords so... everything has started from it. Though I never criticize a band if a song looks like another one (maybe I'll laugh a bit but that's cause it will remind me the other one, but that's it) I'm watching and listening to what this song has to say to me.
We have just known that Redrum will play at Firefest 2014. What does this means for you?
- Yes, it was just announced before some days! It was a great pleasure and achievement for me and got really excited after trying for many years to put any of my bands to play there and when the phone rang and I heard the first words “Chris … Redrum” to perform at Firefest 2014 I felt really amazing. The “bad” thing was that I couldn't tell anyone about it till the final announcement will be made cause I was about to be Darganized... (laughs) and I was about to explode 3 months knowing and not telling anyone but that's how the festival rules are “it's a mystery” announcement... Redrum is the first band based in Greece that plays to a great festival like Firefest is and I'm also proud of achieving this for my country to be there for the 1st and the last time cause as we all know it's the Final Fling. The whole band is also excited about this and they are preparing an amazing PARTY show and will give an amazing performance for everyone! So all I can say is Roll On Firefest XI (The Final Fling)!
