SUPER DESCOMUNAL!! http://www.melodic.net/reviewsOne.asp?revnr=5903Here’s something for all of you Westcoast fans out there! So many collectors keep saying there’s never any GREAT new westcoast albums in the 2000’s. Well, this CD will change the minds of some of you. GEORGE GRUNWALD is Polish and on this CD he calls himself - or the project? – GEORGE & G. This is the Japanese release with 2 bonus tracks (Vivid Sound VSCD-3351), in total 12 songs.
LAVA, CROSSFADE and JAY GRAYDON is probably on your top lists, and those artists all come to mind when I hear this lovely CD. When I say LAVA it is first and foremost their “Polarity” CD I refer to, and songs like “Don’t Give It Up” and “Have I Lost My Girl” sounds very much like them. There’s also some CROSSFADE in the former tune. The JAY GRAYDON influences are heard in the ballads, like “With Every Breath” and “A Love So Right”. The backing vocals are amazing, especially in those ballads. But it’s not that strange since the vocalists on backing vocals include Joseph Williams, Bill Champlin, Lou Pardini, Alex Ligertwood, Jason Scheff and Warren Wiebe – the latter proving that some of these songs were recorded a couple of years back. I could write a lot more about this CD, but it’s not necessary. This is easily one of the best westcoast CD’s I’ve heard in a long time. A completely lovely experience. Even though Grunwald is based in Sweden, there are mainly Danish and American players involved, like David Garfield (keyboards, KARIZMA), Eric Marienthal (saxophone), Jan Lysdahl (drums), Hans Poulsen (guitar) and Jens Hack (saxophone). Oh, I have to finish off with this: “Touch The Sun” is a KILLER song! It also features Alex Ligertwood on shared vocals.

http://www.bluedesert.dk/george.htmlBorn in Poland, raised in Sweden and has travelled all over the world with his music. The singer and guitarist George Grunwald has a big career in East Europe with many album releases featuring Eric Marienthal and many swedish studio musicians. His earlier albums are more in the jazz fusion vein. He has always been inspired by the music style from Los Angeles and several years ago he decided to start on his west coast project.
From the beginning he teamed up with producer Oli Poulsen to set up the right sound for the production. Oli Poulsen has been working with many big acts and he produced the danish group Michael Learns To Rock that got a big career in the Far East. George Grunwald knewed that this album project were going to take a long time. Just to coordinate things between musicians, recordings, travellling and to get the project signed to a label, could take years.
With this in mind, George started a music project, that with no doubt, already from the beginning were going to be huge project, but also with many west coast music fans waiting to hear the result.
With help from friends and also personal contacts and hard work George Grunwald gathered the team for the recording sessions. The final result is an album with 10 songs recorded in studios all over the world. The musicians lineup are impressive. George Grunwald did get Joseph Williams (Toto, Vertigo), Bill Champlin (Chicago, Sons Of Champlin), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Tamara Champlin, Warren Wiebe, Lou Pardini (Koinonia) & Alex Ligertwood (Santana, Metro) to help out with the vocals. He is also singing a duet with Alex Ligertwood on the album. Oli Poulsen teamed up with some great danish studio musicians and had David Garfield, Allen Hinds, Mark Leadford & David Blamires to contribute to the album.
The title of the album is "So Much To Say" and that is what George Grunwald are doing thru the music. The album is finally released in Far East at the label Icicle Music. There will also be a European & US release very soon.
