Foreigner and Styx have announced plans for the “United in Rock” tour with special guest Kansas – bringing together three bands responsible for countless top ten hits and more than 100 million in album sales.
The three rock legends will team up for an evening full of some of the most memorable rock songs ever recorded. The set is expected to feature 30 years of hits, and the tour will see the bands stopping in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, Virginia Beach, DC, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Detroit. There are also plans to expand the tour to more cities and dates.
Tickets go on sale March 6th for shows in Boston and Chicago with additional tour dates and ticket on sale information to be announced shortly at LiveNation.com.
In a press release, James “JY” Young of Styx stated: “I am very excited to be performing this summer with both Foreigner and Kansas on our United In Rock Tour. These three bands represent the more rocking side of the classic rock genre. With the countless great rock songs each band will be performing this is going to be a guitars-a-blazin’ good time had by all. STYX is a band that one of our best known songs is about the blue collar man in the unemployment line and we totally identify with the average hard working people that are facing difficult economic times. We want to say thank you with affordable tickets for you and your family.”
With more than 35 millions albums sold worldwide and 16 Top 20 singles (12 Top Ten Singes), Styx has performed more live since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined, with two highly coveted Super-Bowl appearances and Pollstar chart-topping tours with other rock legends including Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, and Bad Company to name a few.
Styx is one of the few bands ever to have three top ten songs in three different decades, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Career-wide Styx have released a total of 15 albums with 8 top ten hits including some of their most popular "Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Too Much Time On My Hands”, and “Blue Collar Man. Foreigner is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world, racking up scores of smash hits, multi-platinum albums, and sold out concert tours. From ‘Feels Like The First Time and “Cold As Ice” to “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent” to “Jukebox Hero,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You” to the chart topper “I Want To Know What Love is”, Foreigner's thrilling mix of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop continues to captivate generation after generation of music fans.
Foreigner recently performed the title track form their latest album “Can’t Slow Down” to a sell out crowd and a TV audience of over six million NASCAR fans at The Pepsi 500, an event that helped drive the bands catalogue sales to the point where they currently outsell those of the Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and most of their rock peers.
Today, over 70 million albums later, Foreigner is an ensemble of talented musicians with credentials that make the band stronger and more powerful than ever. For additional information on Foreigner, visit foreigneronline.com.
Kansas became popular in the 1970s, with hit singles such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind". They have remained a classic rock radio staple and have continued to draw large crowds to their live performances throughout North America and Europe.
The band has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of), one platinum live album (Two For the Show) and a million selling gold single, “Dust In the Wind.”
Kansas appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 70’s and 80s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North American and Europe and Japan. For additional information on Kansas visit, www.kansasband.com.
