    <<ENTREVISTA>> DRAGONFORCE <<INTERVIEW>> Dragonforce1

    Dragonforce:
Devin Townsend Christeen EP, Enchanted Soundtrack, Periphery and Hannah Montannah

Adolfo: Muchas gracias.

    ENGLISH VERSION

Adolfo: What influences came into writing music?

Dragonforce: Video game music had been the main influence since the beginning. We all listen to different things when we write music though. For this album I personally listened a lot of different rock, metal music and beyond. I have experimented a lot with sounds and frequencies. Bringing in a theremine and using is on most of the songs on Ultra Beatdown.

Adolfo: Seeing how most of you are from different countries how did you meet and find a common interest in the same music?

Dragonforce: I've meet Herman in one of the clubs in London. At that time they've already had ZP that they've met through an advert in a magazine, Sam from a previous band Herman has been with and Didier and Decon that later have been replaced with Fred and Dave. We've always wanted to do something melodic and catchy with allot of solos.

Adolfo: To my knowledge there is no band like Dragonforce in the UK. Are the young people interested in this kind of music?

Dragonforce: We have been getting a lot huge response all around the world and out fan base had grew over the years. It seems that we are the only band in UK doing this genre music. I think fans are really happy to get something different from the bands like us these days. People are getting tired of screaming and negativity. We try to make people happier with uplifting melodies and catchy songs we write instead of making them feel depressed. I see a lot of people different ages at our shows. We get a lot of kids coming with their parents as well as older fans and couples.

Adolfo: I easily can see one of your principal influences is the video game music, right?

Dragonforce: Yes. Right! Actually no, there is no principal influence. We are influenced by many types of music we listened to through many years.

Adolfo: How much has the internet helped you guys in terms of promotion and interaction with your fans?

Dragonforce: It has helped us a lot through out our career. Our first ever demo have had over 500.000 downloads over the internet, also helped us build up a strong fan base all around the world. Even to this days with websites like Myspace it amazing how you can promote your art and spread the word about the music.

Adolfo: What are your opinión about people telling Dragonforce is a band trying to always playing as fast you can?

Dragonforce: I think people that say those things aren't DragonFroce fan and simply don't get it. There are plenty of mid-tempo bands in a worlds and no one is forced to listen to us. We have never deliberately tried to play fast but it has worked for us in a long term and we aren't going to change our style just because some people simply refuse to move on. We're bringing people something different, something new that people can be love and be inspired by.

Adolfo: Guitar Hero was a good way to introduce the band to the metal fans…

Dragonforce: Guitar Hero 3 was a good way to broaden out fan base and introduce some newpeople to what we do. A lot of people that weren't particularly metal fansdiscovered us and really enjoyed what we do because of the HG3 game. We've always have been a big gaming fans and really though it would be a cool idea when we got approached by them.

Adolfo: Speaking about the "Ultra beatdown", How it is different from previous albums?

Dragonforce: Ultra Beatdown is the catchiest album we've recorded up to date. The album has more veriety and depth to it. The songs have evolved a lot more and the production got a lot better since the previous albums we've done. This album has a lot of character, we're experimented with the frequencies and brought in a theremine and used it on most of the songs. I wanted to do something
different on this album and with theremine it made the album sound more ambient and pleasant. We even have one mid-tempo song on this album, we wanted to try something different and bring more variety to the album. Over all Ultra Beatdown album is very easy to get into and and much more optimistic record for us.

Adolfo: You produced and mixed "Ultra beatdown". Why come you do it that way instead of bringing in outside producers?

Dragonforce: Being a very strong opinionated people when it comes to art we always want to do things they way we think is right. Bringing another person in would change the way we think and feel the direction the record should take. We want to deliver the best DragonForce record ever made every time we work on albums. This way we're more in control of what we do and never have to jeopardize our sound.

Adolfo: What song on the album was the most challenging for you and what is your favourites of the album?

Dragonforce: Most of the songs were challenging to me personally mainly because of the disagreement with the other guys. Everyone kept changing things withing the songs. It made it hard to keep up with everything that has been happening but it has worked to our advantage. I like Reasons to Live mainly because of its progression and the way it's melodies grow into one another. It's very progressive and different from anything we have ever done . I wanted to make a tango middle section to give the song a slightly different feel to the song and it worked really well.

Adolfo: Each of your CDs has been more successful. Where is the top in Dragonforce?

Dragonforce: All we have ever wanted it to play the music we love and tour the world doing it. We're doing it now. We are on top but still getting higher continuously.

Adolfo: Are you working in a new album?

Dragpmforce: We wont be working on a new album for the next year at least because of the touring and we have only released Ultra Beatdown. It would seem pointless. At the moment we want to concentrate on spreading the word of Ultra Beatdown.

Adolfo: What has been your greatest challenge after ten years and four albums?

Dragonforce: Seeing your family as often as you would like to and spend time with friends happens rarely. Other then that it's been an easy going time.

Adolfo: Are you happy with where your band is at now and what are some major goals that you are hoping to achieve?

Dragonforce: I'm very happy and please with the outcome of our latest album. To me we've already achieved our goal. We're touring the world, playing the music we love.

Adolfo: Your profile in the USA seems to be building nicely. What about Europe ans Spain in particular?

Dragonforce: Things have been picking up for us all around the world really. I have noticed a lot of email coming in from all around the Europe. Spanish fans have been very supportive. We've always had a great time touring Spain and can wait to get out on the road there.

Adolfo: What´s the Dragonforce plans for 2009?

    Dragonforce: Touring and more touring.

Adolfo: What are the latest CD/CDs spinning in your stereo?

Dragonforce: Devin Townsend Christeen EP, Enchanted Soundtrack, Periphery and Hannah Montannah

Adolfo: Thank you. Please feel free to add anything for your fans in Spain.

Dragonforce: I want to thank our fans for all the support they have given to us over the years. Look out for more info at out website for more updates. See you on tour.
